New Ramp at I-4 and U.S. 92 Near Daytona on Track for Completion by Speedweeks

I-4 Exit Guide | Florida“Thump-clank, thump-clank, thump-clank.” The 10,000-pound hammer drives the concrete pillar into the ground a fraction of an inch at a time.

“They are setting it in place,” consulting engineer for construction engineering and inspection Steve Wigle explained as construction crews checked the placement and load-capacity of one of five 55-foot concrete pillars that will support a portion of the on-ramp bridge from westbound U.S. 92 to westbound Interstate 4, west of Daytona Beach. “There will be three sets of five pillars (in the median), there will be eight pillars over there (to the south) and nine (to the north).”
