Photo Update – Disney Springs Construction Continues

Construction continues on the transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs. While the metamorphosis won’t be complete until 2016, we thought you might like to see some of the completed portions of this massive project.

Disney Springs will feature an eclectic mix of offerings. From boutique shops to unique flagship anchor stores, visitors can explore a wide variety of shopping and dining options. The transformation will double the number of shops, restaurants and other venues with more than 150 unique establishments.

When the project is complete, Disney Springs will include four outdoor districts; The West Side, Marketplace, The Landing and Town Center… all interconnected by a flowing spring and a scenic waterfront.

Here’s a few shots we took of the progress on a recent visit. Click a photo for a larger view…

Disney Springs to Include Several New Upscale Restaurants

The transformation from Downtown Disney into the new Disney Springs continues and with it comes the possibility of several critically acclaimed restaurants putting down roots.

According to reports from several well respected Orlando are blogs, big name restaurants expected to be added to the Disney Springs lineup include:

– The Edison, a Los Angeles restaurant that celebrates the era of invention

– STK, a modern steakhouse with locations in New York, Miami and Las Vegas

– Morimoto, the Japanese and sushi restaurant of chef Masaharu Morimoto and the Starr restaurant group with locations in Philadelphia and New York

– The Boathouse, a new concept from the same people who brought you Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex Cafe

In addition, existing Planet Hollywood, the movie-themed restaurant, will undergo major renovations that will convert the massive globe-shaped structure into one that resembles a planetary observatory. The Boathouse will be built in a space on the lagoon next to Fulton’s Crab House and Portobello, the Italian restaurant. Both of those restaurants are expected to remain as is. Paradiso 37 is also expected to remain.
