Multiple Traffic Pacing Operations Scheduled for I-4/SR408 Construction in Orlando

The Florida Department of Transportation reports multiple traffic pacing operations associated with I-4 construction activities are scheduled to occur on eastbound State Road (S.R.) 408 between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. on August 6, 7, 8 and 10.

The eastbound S.R. 408 operations will begin at Good Homes Road and conclude at Interstate 4 (I-4). During the operations, affected S.R. 408 entrance ramps will be temporarily blocked. As the traffic pacing operations pass each interchange, law enforcement officers will reopen the entrance ramp. Each traffic pacing operation on S.R. 408 will create a 30-minute window for crews to continue placing girders for a new flyover ramp.

In total, seven eastbound S.R. 408 entrance ramps will be temporarily closed during these operations. View or download an online map of the temporary S.R. 408 on-ramp closures.

In conjunction with the traffic pacing operations, the eastbound and westbound S.R. 408 entrance ramps from Interstate 4 (I-4) will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on August 5-8 and August 9-10. The eastbound S.R. 408 exit ramp to eastbound I-4 will also be closed during this same time frame.

Motorists may experience additional lanes closed on S.R. 408 before and during the traffic pacing operations.

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.

I-95 southbound to S.R. 400 eastbound ramp closed: There is a continuous closure of the exit ramp from I-95 southbound to S.R. 400/Beville Road through 6 a.m. August 9. I-95 southbound traffic should exit at U.S. 92 eastbound and take Williamson Boulevard south to Beville Road.

Sunday, August 5th, 2018 to Saturday, August 11th, 2018

Sunday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., I-95 northbound and southbound lane closures from U.S. 92 to south of I-4.

U.S. 92 closure at I-95 Thursday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Traffic will be directed around the work area using Williamson Boulevard, Bellevue Avenue and Tomoka Farms Road.

This project involves widening Interstate 95 (I-95) from four lanes to six lanes from north of State Road (S.R.) 44 to north of U.S. 92 (International Speedway Boulevard). The southern project limit will tie into the recently completed I-95 widening project to the south (from south of S.R. 406 to north of S.R. 44). The project scope also includes the reconstruction of the systems interchange with I-4, I-95 and U.S. 92.

[If weather prevents the work Wednesday night, the ramps may be closed Thursday or Friday nights.]

Lane Closures, Detours for I-4/I-95 Interchange Reconstruction Project

The Florida Department of Transportation reports the following traffic impacts associated with the I-4/I-95 interchange reconstruction project from North of S.R. 44 to North of U.S. 92.

Lane Closures

  • Through Saturday, August 4th, 2018
I-95 southbound to S.R. 400 eastbound ramp closed: The exit ramp from I-95 southbound to S.R. 400/Beville Road will remain closed through 6 a.m. August 9.
  • Through Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., I-95 northbound and southbound lane closures from U.S. 92 to south of I-4.

U.S. 92 eastbound to I-95 northbound ramp closure Wednesday & Thursday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Traffic may take Tomoka Farms Road or Williamson Boulevard north to LPGA Boulevard and back to I-95 northbound.

U.S. 92 closure at I-95 Thursday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Traffic will be directed around the work area using Williamson Boulevard, Bellevue Avenue and Tomoka Farms Road.

This project reconstructs the I-95 interchange leading to and from I-4 and U.S. 92, which will increase mobility and connectivity. It will also increase safety for merging, exiting and through-traffic. The project will eliminate a left-side merge ramp onto I-95 from U.S. 92, just a short distance to the south. Additional lanes will be constructed along I-95 allowing vehicles traveling through the area to continue in dedicated lanes, and vehicles entering and exiting I-95 to be separated into dedicated entrance and exit lanes.
