One of Interstate 4’s most problematic traffic bottlenecks may be about to change for the better.

The Florida Department of Transportation reports that motorists in the ChampionsGate area should be aware of a new traffic pattern coming to County Road 532 (Exit 58) under I-4 as soon as Sunday, July 10, when the roadway converts to a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) configuration.

A “Diverging Diamond” interchange (DDI) eliminated left turn phases at traffic signals. It also reduces the number of traffic signal phases. A DDI interchange will also move almost double the volume of traffic in the intersection at the same time.

Below is a video to help explain how to navigate through the new Diverging Diamond Interchange at ChampionsGate.
