Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing overnight closures along westbound I-4 and westbound I-4 Express between the John Young Parkway (County Road (C.R.) 423) and State Road (S.R.) 528 interchanges through Thursday, July 24.

The closures will begin as early as 10:00 p.m. each night and are expected to reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning, with the last closure opening on the morning of Friday, July 25.

On the nights through Wednesday, July 23, motorists can expect the following overnight closures:

  • Westbound I-4 entrance ramp from southbound Kirkman Road (S.R. 435).
  • Westbound I-4 entrance ramp from Adventure Way.
  • Westbound I-4 Express between John Young Parkway and Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482).

On the night of Thursday, July 24, motorists can expect the following overnight closures:

  • All westbound lanes and ramps of I-4 from Kirkman Road to west of S.R. 528, except for the westbound I-4 exit ramp to Kirkman Road and the westbound I-4 entrance ramp from westbound S.R. 528.
  • Westbound I-4 Express between John Young Parkway and Sand Lake Road.

These closures are necessary for traffic shifts and bridge work.

Detour Information thru July 23 Overnight Closures

Motorists traveling south on Kirkman Road who wish to access westbound I-4 will continue south to the Sand Lake Road ramp, staying in the right lane and turning right onto westbound Sand Lake Road. Motorists will then turn left to access westbound I-4.

Motorists traveling northbound on Adventure Way who wish to access westbound I-4 will continue north and turn left onto westbound Hollywood Way at the traffic signal. Motorists will turn left again onto southbound Turkey Lake Road and proceed to Sand Lake Road. At the signal, motorists will turn left again to head east on Sand Lake Road, staying in the right lane and turning right onto westbound I-4.

Alternatively, motorists on northbound Adventure Way can turn right onto eastbound Hollywood Way at the traffic signal. Motorists will turn right again onto southbound Universal Boulevard and proceed to Sand Lake Road. At the signal, motorists will turn right again to head west on Sand Lake Road, staying in the left lane and turning left onto westbound I-4.

Motorists on westbound I-4 Express will be instructed to exit I-4 Express at the slip ramp between John Young Parkway and Conroy Road, proceeding onto westbound I-4. Motorists traveling on Grand National Drive will not be able to access westbound I-4 Express and should instead proceed to westbound I-4 at Sand Lake Road.

Detour Information for July 24 Overnight Closures

Motorists traveling west on I-4 who wish to access S.R. 528 will be directed to exit early at Exit 75B to southbound Kirkman Road, then continue to Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482), staying in the left lane and turning left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road toward John Young Parkway. Motorists will then turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway, proceeding to S.R. 528. To return to westbound I-4, motorists should take the ramp to westbound S.R. 528 and proceed to the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Motorists traveling on Sand Lake Road west of I-4 who wish to access westbound I-4 will turn onto southbound Turkey Lake Road and proceed to Central Florida Parkway. From there, motorists will turn left onto eastbound Central Florida Parkway and take the first right onto the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Motorists on westbound I-4 Express will be instructed to exit I-4 Express at the slip ramp between John Young Parkway and Conroy Road, proceeding onto westbound I-4. Motorists traveling on Grand National Drive will not be able to access westbound I-4 Express and should instead proceed to Kirkman Road and follow the above westbound I-4 detour.

FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
