Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing overnight closures along westbound lanes of I-4 between exit 74, Kirkman Road (State Road 435) and exit 72 Beachline Expressway (State Road 528) interchanges from Sunday, October 19, through Thursday, October 23, with the last closure opening on the morning of Friday, October 24. The closures will begin as early as 10:00 p.m. each night and are expected to reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
On the nights of Sunday through Thursday, October 19 to 23, motorists can expect overnight closures of all westbound lanes and ramps of I-4 from Kirkman Road to west of State Road 528, except for the westbound I-4 exit ramp to Kirkman Road and the westbound I-4 entrance ramp from westbound State Road 528.
These closures are necessary to conduct bridge painting and a traffic shift. This work is part of the ramp widening project on the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound State Road 528. These improvements will improve capacity and traffic flow at this busy interchange.
I-4 Detour Information:
Motorists traveling west on I-4 who wish to access State Road 528 will exit early at Exit 75B to southbound Kirkman Road, then continue south to Sand Lake Road (State Road 482), turning left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road toward John Young Parkway (State Road 423). Motorists will then turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway, proceeding to State Road 528. From there, drivers who wish to return to I-4 will continue west to the end of State Road 528 and take the ramp to westbound I-4.
Motorists traveling east on Sand Lake Road who wish to access westbound I-4 will turn right onto southbound Turkey Lake Road and proceed to Central Florida Parkway. From there, motorists will turn left onto eastbound Central Florida Parkway and take the first right onto the westbound I-4 entrance ramp.
FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
