The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that temporary closures of the southbound I-275 travel lanes under I-4 and westbound I-4 ramps to southbound I-275 and Downtown East-West are occurring from 10:00 p.m., Monday, September 23 to 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, weather permitting.

Motorists traveling southbound on I-275 will have to exit the interstate using Exit 46A, turn west onto Floribraska Avenue, turn south onto Tampa Street, and continue south to re-enter the interstate using the southbound I-275 entrance ramp.

Westbound I-4 motorists will have to continue onto the northbound I-275 entrance ramp, proceed toward Exit 46B, turn west onto SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard), turn south onto Tampa Street, and continue south to re-enter the interstate using the southbound I-275 entrance ramp.

Electronic message boards and signage will assist motorists traveling through the area. Drivers should use caution while driving through each work zone and remain alert for construction workers.

These temporary ramp closures are necessary as crews perform overhead bridge work as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project. This project is expected to finish in 2027.
