Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing an overnight closure of the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound State Road 528 (Beachline Expressway) at Exit 72 on the night of Sunday, December 21. The closure will begin as early as 10:00 p.m. and is expected to reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning, Monday, December 22.
This closure is necessary for barrier wall work and is the last scheduled ramp closure of 2025 for this project, pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The work is part of a larger project to widen the westbound I-4 exit ramp to eastbound S.R. 528, which will improve capacity and traffic flow at this busy interchange upon completion.
I-4 Detour Information
Motorists traveling west on I-4 who wish to access S.R. 528 will exit early at Exit 75B and head south on Kirkman Road (S.R. 435) to Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482), staying in the left lane and turning left onto eastbound Sand Lake Road. From there, motorists will continue east, then turn right onto southbound John Young Parkway (S.R. 423) and proceed to S.R. 528.
FDOT advises motorists to follow all posted detour signs.
