I-4 Ramp Closures, Detours at Wheeler Street Begin September 20

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that beginning at 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 20, the eastbound I-4 ramps (entrance and exit) at Wheeler Street (SR 39A) will close until 5:00 a.m., Monday, September 23, weather permitting.

Eastbound I-4 motorists needing to access Wheeler Street (SR 39A) will have to exit the interstate using Exit 21, proceed north onto Alexander Street, turn east onto Sam Allen Road, turn south onto Paul Buchman Highway, and continue south toward Wheeler Street (SR 39A).   

Motorists needing to access eastbound I-4 will turn east onto South Frontage Road, continue east toward Park Road, turn north onto Park Road, and proceed toward the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Electronic message boards and signage will assist motorists traveling through the area. Drivers should use caution while driving through the work zone and remain alert for construction workers.

These temporary ramp closures are part of the I-4 repaving project from east of McIntosh Road to County Line Road in Hillsborough County.
